Transforming Healthcare: Predictive Forecasting Now Available to Health Roundtable Members

Health Roundtable members now have access to predictive forecasts within the data analytics and benchmarking platform, enhancing their ability to proactively manage safety and quality indicators from March 2025.

This latest enhancement enables hospitals and healthcare providers to anticipate patient deterioration, optimise staffing levels, reduce readmission rates, and improve overall operational efficiency—a significant step forward in data-driven healthcare management.

Predictive insights can be used in three key ways:

  1. Identifying Emerging Issues Early
Unlike traditional benchmarking, which highlights retrospective trends, predictive forecasts help pinpoint potential safety and quality concerns before they escalate.
  2. Setting Measurable Improvement Targets
By incorporating forecasts into safety and quality initiatives, healthcare teams can establish data-driven goals. Achieving these targets provides statistical confidence in the effectiveness of improvement strategies.
  3. Scenario Testing for Future Planning
Predictive analytics allow organisations to test different strategies before implementation, ensuring they are robust and adaptable to likely future conditions.

This enhancement further strengthens the Health Roundtable Platform, providing members with a comprehensive view of past, present, and future trends to drive evidence-based decision-making.

Tobi Wilson, President, Health Roundtable:

‘Health Roundtable has long been trusted as a valuable source of insights into the broader quality and safety outcomes of hospitals and health services across Australia and New Zealand. Our latest version release now provides predictions twelve months into the future for our most used metrics. These are driven by cutting edge AI machine learning models based on the deep learning transformer architecture, with robust testing to ensure only the highest quality forecasts are presented.'

We look forward to continuing to support our members in utilising forward-looking insights that support better decision-making for improved patient outcomes and efficiencies.’
